Books for Children with Special Needs

The CBC is unique in Iran with its pioneering work in the producing of children’s literature in tactile, textile, audio, video and large print forms. Work started in the 1980’s and has gained momentum since 1999-2000 due to donations and more voluntary participation. Especially important to the success of the group is the participation of both children and adults with special needs and their families in these activities.

Another aspect of the work of this group is to train CBC members in storytelling, book reading and creative drama for institutions such as hospitals, orphanages, correctional and educational institutions. The CBC has also been stressing the effective use of the audio books for those who cannot read Persian fluently. It is working to interest publishers in such audio productions.
