Workshops

In order to enhance public awareness on the importance of reading and children’s literature, Children’s Book Council organizes various workshops. The most notable is “Introduction to Children’s Literature” held annually during nine months.

It is open to all members interested in this field and obligatory for those who wish to continue their collaboration with CBC.

The workshop was started in 1986 after the proposal received from Ms. Mariam Ahmadi, and was supervised by Ms. Touran Mirhadi and Ms. Soraya Ghezelayagh. During the first two years, with the participation of various colleagues, the experimental stage was completed.

From 1985 to 2004, the workshops were led by, Ms. Mansoureh Rai, Forough Jamali and Ms. Nahid Jabari respectively. The nineteenth workshop, (2004-2005), is being coordinated by Ms. F. Jamali and Ms. Z. Shirazi.

From the 16th workshop, the program was divided into a preliminary and a complementary section:

The preliminary section covers the following topics:
CBC and its activities, children and young adults literature, the history of children’s literature, children and young adults as target groups, traditional literature, realism in children’ literature, retelling and re-creation, fantasy, translation, poetry, non-fiction, reference books, illustration and periodicals.
